The Sula Foundation is made of pit bull owners and other fans of the breed and our focus is promoting responsible pit bull ownership throughout New Orleans. We sponsor events, lectures, low-cost vaccination clinics and free spay/neuter services. We also, on a limited basis and as space and funds allow, rescue and rehome abandoned dogs.

The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering. Chartered in 1888, we are the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state, providing care and basic medical services for thousands of homeless and unwanted animals each year.

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is an organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi, including responding to the immediate needs of those animals in need of medical care, or who have been neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes the foster, adoption and reunion of pets with caretakers, as well as spaying/neutering of all companion animals.

Madalin’s Used Dogs Rescue is committed to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of dogs in the New Orleans area. We do this through spay/neuter outreach, fostering, adoption, surrender intervention and education, all the while promoting the sense of community and neighborhood that is the foundation of the New Orleans culture.
Looziana Basset Rescue currently has 22 dogs in rescue. We continue to need foster homes as well as donations to pay for vet care. We also need donations to pay for boarding because we never have enough foster homes.
